County Line Confidential (“we,” “us”) is published by Charles Kirkland from St. George, South Carolina. This policy explains what we collect when you use countylineconfidential.com and what we do with it. The short version: we collect your email address if you give it to us, we use it to send you the dispatches, and we don’t sell it.
What we collect
- Information you give us. When you subscribe to the dispatches, we collect your name and email address. When you write to the editor, we collect whatever you put in the form, including your name, email address, and your message.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics tools record your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and the time of your visit. We use this to see which pages people read and to keep the site working.
- Cookies. The site may set cookies for analytics and to remember your preferences. You can block cookies in your browser; the site will still work.
How we use it
- To send you the weekly dispatch and, once a year, a note when a collected edition is published.
- To answer letters sent to the editor.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not send mail on behalf of anyone else.
Who else sees it
We use third-party services to run the site and send email, including our web host and an email service provider. These providers process your information on our behalf and under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Unsubscribing
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you’re off the route. You can also write to the editor and ask to be removed.
Letters to the editor
If you send us a story, we will not publish it, or your name, without asking you first.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to the editor and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the Contact page. We will respond within thirty days.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be noted in a dispatch.
